Hello August – Let the Christmas Planning Begin!

Can you believe we’re stepping into August already? It always sneaks up on me, but there’s something about the first of August that feels like the soft chime of a festive bell—subtle, but a definite reminder that the season we all love is just around the corner.
This time of year holds a quiet kind of magic. The air feels different, the mornings a little softer, and although we’re still in the heart of summer, there’s a familiar shift—like the early pages of a story I’ve been waiting all year to write.
For me, August has always been the month where the spark is lit—the beginning of something magical. It’s not about rushing into baubles or tinsel (not just yet!), but rather about gently setting the tone. It’s a time to sit down with a fresh notebook, a cosy coffee, and start imagining. Mood boards, colour swatches, and a little dreaming—this is where it all quietly begins.
Planning is part of the joy. There’s something incredibly satisfying about shaping the festive season with intention—thinking about how you want your home to feel. Cosy and nostalgic? Opulent and glamorous? Minimal and Nordic? This early planning stage is about creating that vision and slowly letting inspiration lead the way.
One thing I’ve noticed over the years that continues to hold its charm is the timeless love for blues and whites. These tones are still standing strong and truly having a beautiful moment. There’s a crisp elegance in a wintry palette—snowy silvers, icy whites, powdery blues and rich navies, all layered with soft textures, shimmering glass, and delicate lighting. It whispers “winter wonderland” without ever feeling too bold or overly traditional.
Whether you’re dressing the table with fine linens, styling a mantelpiece with frosted garlands, or simply changing up soft furnishings with seasonal touches, blues and whites bring a calm sophistication that works in any setting. They're serene, they’re versatile, and they create a beautiful sense of quiet luxury.
This month for me is all about easing back into blog mode—no pressure, just inspiration, gentle creativity, and letting those early festive feelings guide me. I know many of you are feeling the same: ready to plan, not quite ready to decorate, but definitely open to the thought of twinkling lights in a few months’ time.
So here’s to new beginnings, slow planning, and a stylish start to the season ahead. August is about laying the groundwork—sketching layouts, thinking about tablescapes, making a few wishlists, and even flicking through old Christmas photos for a dose of nostalgia. It’s also the perfect time to reflect on what worked last year, what we might want to evolve, and how we want this year’s story to unfold.
There’s something grounding about starting early. It takes away the last-minute stress and gives you space to enjoy the process—sourcing beautiful pieces, layering your space gradually, and most importantly, finding joy in every little detail.
So here’s your gentle nudge: if your festive spark is starting to flicker, let it. Light a candle, grab a pen, and allow the ideas to flow. Christmas doesn’t have to start with a bang—it can begin with a whisper.
Let’s make this a season to remember.
With love and sparkle,
Daniel x
